Do You Woot!? by Cate Henry

Do You Woot!?

Where can you buy an Asus netbook with a 10.1” display and Intel Atom inside that usually sells for around $380 for only $179 plus five dollars in shipping? Woot!, that’s where. Do you know about this site? If you don’t, you’re missing out on some of the best deals around and a heck of a lot of fun. Woot! made a name for themselves among online retailers with their “One Day, One Deal” idea. This site is a weBEgirls must!

Adventures of a Census Taker by Lady Enumerator

Adventures of a Census Taker

Here’s the cool thing about being a census taker.

I took the same oath of office - give or take a word - that President Obama swore to at his inauguration.

Where Did Our English Go? by Nicola McEldowney

Where Did Our English Go?

(txt me if u no cuz srsly i dont)

We English-speakers need to get serious about our language problem (and not just because we have spawned such abominations as “metrosexual” and “panties”). I’m talking about texting.

Would a .xxx by Any Other Name Smell as Naughty?? by Kathy Kiernan

Would a .xxx by Any Other Name Smell as Naughty??

.XXX coming soon to a computer near you.

Scary? Triple-x rated has always meant the most explicit. Usually, the most sexually explicit. Slapping those three letters on something marked it as different, as intimate, as taboo.

The Clan of Mac-ishness by Kathy Kiernan

The Clan of Mac-ishness

I wasn’t in line Thursday morning.

I’m a Mac addict of the highest order. I’ve got an iMac, a MacBookPro, a PowerBook, a MacBook Air, assorted iPods that I no longer use, and an iPhone. Not the most recent one before Thursday’s launch of the iPhone4G. The one before that.

The Rag Hag Review: Success Magazine by Laura Simandl

The Rag Hag Review: Success Magazine

I can be a self-help junkie. I go through phases where I read a self-help book, ingest the information, act on the thoughts, feel energized, positive, get stuff done, only to have it grind to a halt out of exhaustion (positive thinking is tiring!) and cynicism (positive thinking is balderdash!) When I know I need a boost to return me to an optimistic thinking path, I’ll pick up a copy of Success magazine. Success’ tag line is “What Achievers Read”. Who doesn’t like to think of themselves as an achiever? (If you don’t maybe you can start a magazine called Failure; What Losers Read.)

Don’t Try This at Home by Mitzi Druss

Don’t Try This at Home

Yesterday Helen Thomas, the first female officer of the National Press Club, the first female member and president of the White House Correspondents Association, retired amidst an uproar of controversy over her comments that Israelis should “get the hell out of Palestine” and “go home” to “Germany or Poland or America,” thus ending an illustrious and highly respected career covering 10 presidents with a 15 second blurb of folly/fury (or something like that). The footage was shot May 27, 2010. The story went on the internet on June 6th, and on June 7th - boom, Shalom Ms. Thomas.

I’m a 30-Something Burnout by Cate Henry

I’m a 30-Something Burnout

I’m 32 and I’m ready to retire. I’m fully ready to trade in my semi-casual work clothes and 2-hour lunch meetings for a housedress and endless games of Canasta. I know it sounds ludicrous, but I’ve had it. I’m done. I’m officially burnt out.

Your Job/Career and You

How you feel about your job can be very indicative as to how you exist in other areas in your life. If you are not fulfilled in your job – or can actually say you dislike it immensely why stay?
