Case Studies: Ditching the Office for Diapers and Nailing the Number by Casey Benson

Case Studies: Ditching the Office for Diapers and Nailing the Number

Dear Case,

I had a baby 10 months ago and I would like to quit working to be a stay-at-home mom. My husband and I can afford it, although we couldn’t live as comfortably as we do now. As a former aggressive ladder climber, I am less enchanted by my executive-level job and just want to be at home with my son. My husband warns that I will regret the decision to get out of the workforce, since I have worked diligently for 10 years to be very successful.

Why Fall Gets You Depressed by Diane Driscoll

Why Fall Gets You Depressed

It started mid-July when I got an email from Neiman Marcus on fall clothes. I felt the chase. No longer was it the second month of a wonderful summer, it was “start counting it down, babe, summer is soon over.” A glimpse of what was to come washed over me. It’s called Seasonal Depression or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). How appropriate.

To Lauren on Her First Full Day of College by Kathy Kiernan

To Lauren on Her First Full Day of College

My Dearest Niece,

I am so excited for you. How was your first night as a college girl? Your mom emailed me a photo of you in your dorm room yesterday. I notice your beds are pretty high up, so you can put bureaus underneath. Ingenious. Wish we’d thought of that.

Is Your Spouse Pulling Away? by Eris Huemer, MA

Is Your Spouse Pulling Away?

Even though many relationships end up in break-ups or divorce, that doesn’t mean that yours has to. There are many relationships that last 30, 40, even 50+ years. I have worked with many clients who were separated or on the brink of getting divorced who succeeded at turning things around.

One Woman’s Quest to Get Her Car (and Her Dignity) Back: Part I by Adrienne Wolf

One Woman’s Quest to Get Her Car (and Her Dignity) Back: Part I

At the beginning of the summer I lost something. I had taken my children for a special lunch with their “bonus” grandma and parked my SUV wannabe across the street from the restaurant because I am allergic to valets. I read the street sign and loaded the meter with two hours worth of quarters.

Add Hallmark Channel’s The Wish List to Your Watch List by Moira Murphy

Add Hallmark Channel’s The Wish List to Your Watch List

I interviewed the writer of The Wish List, Gary Goldstein, to get an inside perspective on his new movie. It was inspired by a real-life situation in which a woman made an exhaustive list of rules for her current husband. Gary then creatively transformed this concept into the tale of Sarah Fischer (Jennifer Esposito), a very persnickety woman who is sick of dating the wrong men.

Ask John: Couch Potatoes, Facebook and Beyond by John Siscel

Ask John: Couch Potatoes, Facebook and Beyond

Dear John,

My boyfriend doesn’t like to do new things. He doesn’t like to travel, go to a club or even a concert. A perfect night for him - staying at home, ordering in food and watching “Whale Wars” or “Deadliest Catch”. I have visions of us going wine tasting or the Hollywood Bowl. I don’t want to be the “never gonna happen” couple. How can I get him to be more adventurous?! More classy?
Signed,
- Bored Simply

Is There Really A Magic Diet Pill? by Dr. Alona Pulde

Is There Really A Magic Diet Pill?

There is certainly no shortage of diet pills or diet plans out there. From Hoodia to Alli to HCG, women (and men) are being duped into believing that these miracle pills will shed away unwanted pounds. The reality? The reality is that most have not proven effective and almost all of them have undesirable and potentially dangerous side effects.
