I was working in Hong Kong when my friend Kim came for a visit. In search of a weekend adventure, we decided to travel to another city in Asia. We chose Vietnam. Saigon, otherwise known as Ho Chi Minh City, a bustling city in the south of Vietnam.

There’s a phrase in entertainment “jumping the shark” which refers to a peak or chapter coming to an end. In my opinion Roger Federer has jumped the shark.
There’s nothing worse than preparing for a trip and traveling across an ocean only to find the typical “ugly American” checking into the same hotel or travel tour as you. According to a recent article in Forbes, the ugly American stereotype is “a major headache for executives traveling the globe to build relationships not destroy them.” This image is bad for our economy too.
Now that September is rolling in, not only will you beat the heat, but you’ll find some of the best deals of the year for Vegas, baby! How about two-for-one shows at Rio, upgrades and amenities at The Venetian, or the celebrity hot spot, Palms, for just $69 per night. This is the best deal for a weekend getaway you can find!
While traveling abroad is exciting, coming home to stand in long Immigration lines can be exhausting. All you internationalli’s (my favorite term for us frequent international fliers) have been looking for a solution for ages. I have two words for you – Global Entry.
I often scour the internet looking for the best deals for all those places I’m dying to see: Nepal, Patagonia and West Africa. However, when I think of what’s going on lately (the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, unemployment and our economy), travel seems a bit selfish. So, it occurred to me to turn selfishness into selflessness. Why not give back while I see the world?
When I think of Kona I think of three things: coffee, volcanoes and the Ironman Triathlon – not necessarily in that order.
If you’ve never heard of Nicolas Mahut, let me fill you in….
Nicolas Mahut (France) played in the longest tennis match in history against John Isner (USA) at the 2010 Wimbledon Championship tournament in London. The two men played 183 games in 11 hours 5 minutes in what will likely be known as the longest match ever played.
Seattle – it’s May, gorgeous, wish you were here. For some reason, every time I visit the Emerald City it’s sunny, warm, and positively sparkling. I’d like to think it’s because I bring the weather with me from sunny L.A., but I know better. I’m not here to kick back though, I’m here to kick butt on a mountain known as Eldorado Peak, elevation 8,868.
I typically write about how exciting it is to travel or experience a foreign place. However, I was inspired by a friend at dinner the other evening and thought about the quote “When you’re safe at home you wish you were having an adventure; when you’re having an adventure you wish you were safe at home.” Just once, I want to write about coming home, rather than leaving it.
Finding time to travel can be challenging enough without putting your hopes on a convenient date for family or friends.
When planning a trip to France most people include areas of the country where they can enjoy wine tasting such as Bordeaux, Rhone or Burgundy. While the French are renowned for their luscious wines, don’t forget they are also famous for Champagne! True Champagne is named after the region in which it’s made. Sure there are wonderful sparkling wines from California, Italy, and other areas, but it is only “Champagne” if made in the lush, cool region in northern France.
