It’s not every day a girl sits down and says to herself: I wonder what blind people fantasize about as they pleasure themselves? And then decides to make a book full of forms and shapes that would incite the imaginations of those who appreciate the human body for how it feels rather than how it looks.
But that’s exactly what Canadian photographer, Lisa Murphy, did when she put her creative juices to work to bring fun into the bedroom in a new way.
This isn’t the first form of porn for the visually impaired, but it’s definitely one of its kind and a major opportunity for the multi-billion dollar porn industry that suddenly has a brand new target that it never saw coming. Murphy uses thermoform plastic pages, the same material used to make Braille paper, but instead of using small bumps on a page to create an outline of body images, she sculpts the material into raised shapes with curves and crevices that mimic the shape of a naked human form—or whatever figure she decides to portray.
“There are no books of tactile pictures of nudes for adults, at least the last time I looked around,” says Murphy. With a certificate in Tactile Graphics from the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, this idea came to her after creating touchable children’s books. She realized blind adults had been “left out” and adds, “We’re breaking new ground. Playboy has [an edition with] Braille wording, but there are no pictures.”
The creative impact Murphy brings to the table can be felt by blind people everywhere as they begin to experience a fantasy world of softcore nakedness. Murphy’s pricy Braille-tastic sex book, Tactile Mind, is selling for $225 Canadian dollars and can be purchased nationwide. Murphy’s designs are more artistic than sexually graphic. Typical body parts, like breasts and behinds are brought to life in this, but with diagrams like “SATANIC RAM,” and “Naked Pink Elephant.” The Braille text accompanied with each image brings some sexual insight into the minds of readers – or feelers, in this case – and contains seventeen diagrams in total.
So, if you have any visually impaired friends who are going through hard times, or simply need a boost in the bedroom, this book would be a great way to lift their spirits… or whatever else needs lifting. Everyone deserves a sexual release, and after years of sexual deprivation in an imaged-centric culture, the blind finally get their chance to let it all go, literally.
