We are all looking for healthy snacks to take that edge off to keep our New Year’s resolutions going strong. So what do you reach for around that 3pm time to stop the cravings and hold you over until dinner time? I found the perfect solution…SEAWEED SNACKS! Don’t curl your nose up just yet…give it a try at least once. These low calorie, natural salty snack pack a punch when it comes to nutrients and they satisfy my craving for chips I get midafternoon.
The health benefits of seaweed abounds as it is high in essential amino acids, which makes them valuable sources of vegetable protein in a vegetarian or mostly meatless diet. Seaweed contains vitamins A (beta carotene) and C. They are rich in potassium, iron, calcium, iodine and magnesium because these minerals are concentrated in sea water. They are also one of the few vegetable sources of vitamin B-12.
Use seaweed as a snack at the movies instead of popcorn, a salty treat instead of chips, throw them in your bag when you are on the road. This 60 calorie snack will not let you down. Where do you get these tasty snacks? If you are near a Trader Joes, they have Roasted Seaweed Snacks that are flying off the shelves. Whole foods and Asian markets will also carry these tasty snacks. ENJOY!
