I Know Way Too Much About Christine O’Donnell

Waaay too much. In addition to being a witch who doesn’t masturbate, we now know that Christine enjoys flirting, Heineken and not waxing her pubes. Told you: too much.

And all because of Gawker, a site I never thought I’d hate. Until they published this tasteless piece of trash, that is. To make a long story short, the Gawker editors got their hands on an “exclusive, tell-all!!” account of some anonymous guy’s impromptu date with the crazy Senate candidate.  *****SPOILER ALERT****** There was no sex (heh). In fact, both the date and the “exclusive, tell all!!” article were boring as all get-out: it was Halloween so the couple knocked back a few beers in a bar, made out a little bit and then went to sleep. And that’s it, that’s pretty much the whole story.

Oh, except for the part where Mr. Anonymous came off as a total asshole. I hesitate to go into the details of why since The Village Voice did it so well in EXCLUSIVE: I Got Blueballed by This Famous-Ass Chick, Yo. But what the hell. This guy is an asshole (not to mention a vaguely disturbing creep) for having a boy scout uniform randomly hanging in his closet (he claims it was his costume from the previous Halloween.Yeah, sure. Whatever.); for being soooo willing to take advantage of an intoxicated woman; and for blaming her unwaxed bikini area for turning him off when the truth of the matter is that Christine probably just wasn’t that attracted to him to begin with. Also, he’s an asshole for selling this story in the first place.

But Mr. Classy won’t stay anonymous for very long, such are the powers of the internet (even with the “first rate” cropping job Gawker did on the “exclusive!!” photos). Indeed, consensus seems to be that Gawker’s anonymous source is Federal Reserve auditor Dustin Dominiak.

Dustin, I don’t think you’ll be getting very near pubic hair – trimmed or otherwise – in a long while. Hope it was worth it, dude.

I could get myself all worked up in a tizzy over this but, honestly, other sites and other bloggers have pretty much hit the nail on the head. Theawl.com says it’s bullshit that a female politician’s three year old date is considered news and fair game. Salon’s Tracy Clark-Flory points out that all the article really did, politically, was make Christine O’Donnell appear sympathetic and likable. The Huffington Post also had something or other to add but that site lost all credibility a long time ago.

In short, Gawker will be milking this post for days to come. Good for them, I guess. But if I were a Delaware voter, I’d be seriously tempted to vote for O’Donnell at this point. Just to make a stand. Sure, it might not be sound politically, it might be a waste of a vote, but it would be tempting.

What do you think?
