5 Last Minute New Year’s Eve Looks

You’ve made it through Christmas and Hanukkah looking fabulous, now it’s time to get ready to ring in the New Year in style. The next question is where are you going and what’s the dress code? Is it a cocktail dress event, black cigar pants and a holiday top for dinner for two, or is it jeans casual with bling for a house party? Wherever you may find yourself, there are simple ways to up your current wardrobe with a purchase or two that will add some red hot style:

1.  Put on the Ritz.Whether it be shoes, a belt, a hairband or a sequined top/sweater/skirt, bling is the thing for New Year’s Eve butmoderation is key. Make sure it’s not over the top and within all that bling your face stays the focus.  If you’re going for a blingy shoe, remember that this might be a dance the night away evening and as soon as your feet start aching, it’s over. You may try to grin and bear it, but you’ll be miserable. Look for shoes that have a wider heel or aren’t a towering six inches. I’m loving this selection from Nordstrom:

J Crew is the perfect place to look for accessories that have that bling factor, but also have some classic styling that you will be able to wear year round. I’m crazy for the sash and the sequined top in a navy blue. Nothing is sexier than black and blue for evening wear.

2.  Show Some Glow. Want a glow that’s 24 carat strong, then pull out all the stops with Guerlain’s L’Or Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold Makeup Base! This skin enhancer, when applied onto bare skin with its 24-karat gold-infused formula, smooths away fine lines and tightens the facial features without discomfort. For a finishing touch, use Guerlain’s Vol de Nuit Powder Spray. Inspired by the legendary Vol De Nuit fragrance this silky, ethereal loose powder creates a light-reflecting veil with a subtle iridescent finish. The powder is perfumed with the mythical Vol de Nuit fragrance. Apply on the face, body, and hair for an all over glow.  You can buy both products at Neiman Marcus.

3.  Highlight the Sexy Back of Your Neck.  Yes, wear your hair up by all means and call focus to your neck and back by wearing a necklace that drapes down the back. Backdrop necklaces are popular in bridalware, but are making their way to evening and even every day. Harder to find, but Lariat styles are perfect for this and can be draped down the back and are especially captivating if what you’re wearing is a low V back, draped or backless.

 4.  Falsify.  Your Lashes that is. False eyelashes come in so many styles these days including natural, fantasy, premium or accemt/individual where you glue a couple lashes on where needed. False eyelashes give you the illusion of volume for a defined eye and can be worn full-lenghth or can be trimmed to half-lenghth and on the outer courner of the eye. MAC and Shu Uemura are top brands for false eyelashes. Practice a few times before the big night putting them on and make sure you only use glue that is made for false eyelashes.

5.  Tuxedo it Up.  Juicy Couture has a sassy black velvet tuxedo jacket that you’ll get wear out of all season long, but pair it with a silk blouse and jeans or a sequined skirt and white tank top and you’ll be set for an evening out with just enough New Year’s panache to start the year off right.  The jacket can be found at Zappos.com, but check department stores for similar looks too so you have it in time.
