When it comes to boots, they are still the must have footwear for winter. Crepe soles are big, over the knee is still big, booties… still gettin’ the love, with the popularity of Hunter wedge rain boots, all weather boots have risen to new heights this year, and of course… it’s still all about the flat. Color is in, suede is in, patent leather is still in, and reptile is HUGE.Â
Here are my top pics for each category, my wish list as it were. Pricey, yes, but know that Steve Madden and Aldo of course will knock all the styles off at a more reasonable price. I always say, know what is hot with the top designers and then you can find it for less!
Crepe Sole Boot
Ugg Australia has really stepped up it’s game from the original cozy boot that everyone and their mother owns. What I love about this Josie Convertible Boot is the crepe heel that not only is super comfortable, bit gives you great traction in all weather. Then you add to it the versatility of this boot and you’ve got a winner – wear it up to your knee or cuff it and fasten at the sole for a shorter style. It comes in Chestnut, Black or Stout at Ugg.com for $250.00.
Diesel Cletus is also a hot boot (top image) that is a crepe wedge with suede fringe that comes in distressed black or brown. This boot is available online or at Diesel stores for $360.00.Â
Over the Knee Boot
When it comes to over the knee, there is only one boot for me… this irresistible Valentino Ruffle-Top Motorcycle Boot has it all. It’s the girly ruffle trim juxtaposes to the buckled harness ankle strap that make this boot entirely sexy and versatile. It comes in black only, but really, would you want it in any other color? Here’s the yikes… it’s $1,395 and I doubt you find a knock off close, but a girl can dream, can’t she? If you’re one of the lucky ones and it’s in your budget or you’ve got a Neimans credit card that you don’t mind paying off for the next year, then one little click can get you this lovely.
Booties
Booties have heels and booties are flat. At Chanel we saw the motorcycle boot style worn with simple leggings and a fab coat. When it comes to heels you can’t go wrong with this Vera Wang Lavender Peep-Toe Ankle Boot. I’ve been so impressed with her Lavender line of shoes ever since she branched out. They have an elegant, classic feel like much of her clothing line, but there’s always some edginess that comes in either with the leather, heel or detailing. Here the crinkled leather and back zip with tassel are so fun along with that peep toe. This bootie is HOT! You can buy it for $425.00 in black only at neimanmarcus.com.
All Weather Boot
Hunter does it again with the wedge, but this time adds some sass with the ankle belt and a slightly lower wedge that has a better look than last year’s style with the lace up the back. This AndoraWedge Rain Boot comes in black, olive. plum or titanium (my personal fave is the olive) for $175.00. Hunter also surprises with this lace-up, heeled rain boot called Lapins. In black it’s totally hot and can be worn with everything, EVERYTHING – jeans, skirt, dress. They’re fantastic! For $225.00 it comes in black, dark olive or navy. Both boots are available at hunter.com or local department stores may carry these styles too.
Reptile Boot
This boot is only to dream about… at $2,395 it’sValentino again with a han-painted Python leather with a 3 3/4″ heel. This shoe cannot be sold or shipped to California, but if you must have it, you can buy it an Neimans. Totally decadent, not for the reptile rights activists, but kinda crazee-beautiful, huh? Talk about looking like a million bucks in this boot! The python look is big and you’ll see it in a cute Miu Miu Python Bootie as well, available at Bergdorfs for $1390.00.
