Today, Friday, February 3, 2012, women are donning red to show their support of heart health as Heart Disease kills more women than all cancers combined. How does this help? With awareness, local events, and  Shop Go Red where companies like Macy’s will donate part of their profits to the National Heart Association.Â
Heart Disease Research has come a long way in understanding, treating and preventing the disease. Before the 1950′s there were no pacemakers. Before the ’60′s there were no artificial heart valves. The 70′s brought us CPR training for the first time and before the 1980′s we didn’t even understand cholesterol and how that affected heart disease. The 2000′s brought us gene targeting and a deeper understanding of how specific genes may contribute to various diseases. More and more research will garner us a greater understanding of how to prevent this disease that is affecting women at an alarming rate.Â
Macy’s Go Red for Women Sale is a way to do what we love, shop, and to donate to the cause. Macy’s gives every customer an additional 20% off on their entire purchase today and throughout the entire weekend and all you have to do is wear something red. With four ways to save and donate you can’t miss out:
