What False Appetites Are Running You?

What False Appetites Are Running You?

When our bodies are overrun with physical toxins, such as yeast, chemicals, fungus, medication, sugar, and so forth, their true needs are drowned out. It’s like a bright light that has been covered up with layers and layers of blankets so that it’s so dark out, you have NO idea there’s a light underneath it. But the light is still there!

In this case, the physical toxins have trumped your true needs and start making the decisions for you. In this case, the physical cravings and appetite you have are FALSE. Do you think your authentic body really wants you to have the chips, the cookies, the ice cream, the fries, the junk food…? NO! Your authentic body wants you to live at its optimal and healthiest… it has just been hijacked. The appetites you’re having aren’t from your true source. They are what I call false appetites.

What false appetites do you have? It’s a cool thing to just to start being aware of it. For me, it’s caffeine. I realized I was really overdoing it… reaching for it because I thought I was “tired” or needed a boost. But the truth was that I was feeling really bored, I was feeling useless, I was feeling unmotivated, and I was feeling kinda depressed. So instead of addressing what was really going on with me, I reached for the quick fix, the upper – the caffeine. And guess what happened after the caffeine crash? I felt worse than before. And then I became dependent on the caffeine and physically my body started “needing” it… so the caffeine became a false appetite for me. It hijacked my system.

I’ve started to become aware of when I feel I need the coffee (or chocolate). It’s during those times that I feel very uncomfortable… I don’t feel good in my skin. But I sit with it instead of running to suppress it. I “talk” to myself. I address and observe the emotional stuff coming up. And I have weaned myself off of it that way… by releasing the emotional causes of my need, and by connecting back to myself. I have taken back my body, and the caffeine no longer runs the show!

Many people have this same scenario with different foods or substances. Reaching for the ice cream when they feel guilty, or for the chips when they’re feeling invisible. Reaching for the fries when they’re overwhelmed, or the cookies when they’re depressed. Or reaching for the cigarettes when they’re trying to suffocate a part of themselves that they don’t like.
Whatever it is for you, you’re not alone. And there is hope. That hope lies in dealing with your emotional trigger. This emotional trigger may come from a memory, it may come from years of programming, and it may come from years of suppressing your true feelings.

We have all been programmed with old beliefs, memories, and negative self-talk since we were children. These beliefs act as a shield that keep us from connecting to our true desires, and old memories and beliefs we keep in our body act as blockages that may keep us from losing weight. Underneath all the layers we have put on to protect ourselves is our true self. It hasn’t stopped shining. It’s still there, just hiding. The sun is still there when there are clouds, just as our true light is still there shining brightly under the layers.

On another level, we have “false appetites” of the soul. How many things do you know you REALLY want for your life, you have a strong “appetite” for, but you don’t go after? You just let it go, thinking you don’t deserve it, you’re not good enough, you’d rather not even try because you think you’re just going to fail so what’s the point, or you just think you can’t do it. Instead, we go after false desires… perhaps the desire that society tells us we should want – a “safe” job, being married with 2.5 kids by the time we’re 30, etc. But is that what you REALLY want, or is that a false appetite that has hijacked your true soul’s appetite? Ask yourself, if you really allowed yourself to feed your soul’s TRUE appetite, what would it be?

See, everything is connected – body, mind, and soul. So if you’re being run by your false appetites in your body, then I would bet that you’re letting the false appetites of the mind run the show, and you’re not actually connecting to your SOUL’s appetite and desires for what you truly want and for what is best for you. When we’re truly connected to our soul and our body, we are a part of an automatic, unconscious flow. It all just works together… our desires become clear and steps to achieve what we want reveal themselves; our body starts craving healthy foods and the blockages we carried keeping us from losing weight slowly fall away.

Since its purpose is to balance the energy flow in and around the body and aura, Reiki energy healing cleanses us both physically and emotionally, releasing and removing stored toxins, feelings, emotions, and memories that can keep us from losing weight.

For you Los Angeles readers, I am launching a “Reiki for Weight Loss” Three Month Program on November 13. This isn’t a traditional “weight loss” program. Really, I’d rather call it Reiki for Returning to Yourself – returning to your body and soul’s true wants and desires. And in so doing, the weight just naturally releases (for life!) as you return to your true appetites.
