It’s only March and already I’m making headway down my New Year’s Resolutions List. YAY! How am I getting this done you might ask, of me who has ended many a December morosely carrying forward my rundown of unrealized intentions into January?

Have you ever experienced real time growth? IĘĽm not talking about growing and inch taller or having your nails get longer… I’m talking about observing yourself overcome obstacles in present time that used to baffle you in the past.
This holiday is part of the trifecta of holidays for me. St. Patrick’s Day lets me know where I come from, Christmas brings my family together and shows me what’s truly important, and 4th of July reminds me to celebrate who I am today and what I’ve become – an independent woman. If you’re not there yet, maybe today is the day to reassess and get you back on your way.
“If I would have gotten what I thought I wanted or lived my life the way I thought I should, I would have so much less than I do now.” – Anonymous-
Last week a dear friend of mine came over to help me organize my bedroom closet. We literally went through the “ABYSS” of clutter and downsized my wardrobe considerably. All the clothes that don’t fit – that have seen better days and that simply don’t belong in this decade were bagged up and given to charity. Since then (a whole 6 days,) I literally enjoy opening my closet and seeing the current me. The clothes that did survive the purge are completely indicative to who I am today.
How you feel about your job can be very indicative as to how you exist in other areas in your life. If you are not fulfilled in your job – or can actually say you dislike it immensely why stay?
My friend Jen is a life coach and last year she invited me to her Vision Board party. I was bummed I couldn’t attend – not because I was dying to create my own board, I didn’t really even know what a vision board was or why I should have one. I just wanted to hang out with the girls, drink wine and gossip about boys and work.
Yes, it is that time of year, folks. Time to be jolly, eat tons of food and spend money. Woo hoo – bring it on! As soon as we see those costumes and candy for sale at Target – we know that the turkey paraphernalia and Christmas/Hanukah push is upon us.
This concept really resonated with me. If I were to be truly honest – I would have to say that most of my life I concentrated on BEING INTERESTING. Do you like me? Do you think I am pretty? Do you think I am smart enough, funny enough, fun enough? After much seeking and self awareness I have thankfully come to the place in my life where I am more INTERESTED in you than being concerned about if you find ME INTERESTING.
I realize as a Life Design Coach/NLP Practitioner that a lot of what I do is take action – help my clients set goals and visions etc….but where is the balance when it comes to just taking time to do NOTHING? What does it even mean to do nothing? Yesterday I took the time to drive down to Huntington Beach and spend the day with an old friend from high school. We packed a lunch, put the dogs in the car and hung out in bikinis at the beach. IT WAS AMAZING. Yesterday – “I just was.” There was no deadline, no calls to make or return no schedule. It allowed me to marvel in the present – to witness the strength of the ocean, feel the wind on my face, receive joy from watching the dogs running in the sand and having a blast, and just talking/laughing with my dear friend. Just “BEING” is such a vital aspect of having a balanced and beautiful life.
