We’re a few weeks away from spring and thoughts of “bikini shape” may be creeping in, but lingering winter blues may have your energy flagging. There’s help out there to keep you on track.
One of the more popular items on display at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this year was the FitBit Flex. It’s a thin rubberized bracelet you wear all the time… including in the shower or pool, that tracks your activity and gives you an idea of how close to your goals you are.
It’s a sleek looking item, accented by five lights, each representing 20% of your goal. So if one light is lit, you’ve reached 20%; two lights is 40% and so forth. It’s cool-looking, on. It’s available in slate, black, teal, tangerine and navy and you can order it on the company’s website: www.fitbit.com. You can also order the Wristband Accesories Pack on Amazon for $29.95 and swap out the colors to match your look.
The Flex uses an accelerometer to note how many steps you’ve made, and estimate how far you’ve traveled and the number of calories you’ve burned. It tracks how long you sleep, and the quality of your sleep. And it has a silent, vibrating wake alarm.
Then Flex syncs over Bluetooth with PCs, Macs, iPhones and new, select Android devices (Samsung Galaxy S III , Note II.)
The Flex can share its data with its own app, as well as with fitness apps like RunKeeper and MyFitnessPal.
And if you’re the competitive sort, you can earn badges on the Flex app, or use it to connect with fitnesss friends. Sold for around $99, it’s a great way to help you reach your goals.
